Maria Clara Lorusso is an image-maker based in London (UK).

Originally from Italy (Conversano, Puglia), she moved to London in 2013 to pursue the study of photography.

Graduated from London College of Fashion in Fashion Photography she continued her postgraduate studies at Central Saint Martins where her work branched in different art genres.

Her time at Central Saint Martins has helped her to develop a new voice in her photographic language documenting the life of many of the artists and artworks constellating the University. Her production is mostly analog, on black and white film, unraveling the essence of her subjects in the lighting shaping their figures. Often melancholic, both her portraiture and her landscapes reveal a subtle sense of sadness. On the opposite,  her work feels more dreamy when she reimagines through color new possible ways of seeing the world.

Moreover, she works with performance art and sculpture, developing a new way of understanding the body and the way it performs in different environments and contexts.
